John Lewis has 16 reviews and every one gives it five stars. That’s too few to say much, so it’s marked as thin evidence, but it matches the frame’s reputation.
The drawbacks raised in published reviews come from how it works. Everything goes through Aura’s app and cloud, so the frame needs Wi-Fi, and there’s no way to load photos from a memory card. It’s also a lot to pay for something that only shows pictures.
The best way to give it is set up. Connect it to Wi-Fi, invite the family to the app, and add a few dozen photos before it’s wrapped. Then it works as soon as it’s plugged in, and new photos keep arriving all year.
What reviewers praise
- Family can add photos from anywhere
- Looks like a frame, not a gadget
- Simple for the person receiving it
What they complain about
- Needs Wi-Fi, and photos go through Aura's servers
- No memory card slot or USB port for loading photos
- Expensive for a device that only shows photos
- Not for
- A home without reliable Wi-Fi, or someone who'd be uneasy about their photos being stored online.
