About review.gift

A small site that reads the public reviews for a gift, combines them into one score, and says plainly what people complain about.

Last updated

Most gift shopping is guesswork. The ratings are public, but they’re spread across different shops, some are padded with free-product reviews, and they tell you whether a thing is good, not whether it makes a good present. Those aren’t the same question.

What we do

For each gift, we collect the public ratings from every source we can find and combine them into one score. Sources with more reviews count for more. Every rating on a page links back to where we found it, with the date we checked it.

We also pull out the complaints that keep coming up, and say who the gift is wrong for. A page with nothing negative on it is an advert, so the site won’t publish one.

How we score gifts explains the method, including what it can’t tell you.

What we don’t do

We don’t test products. We haven’t handled anything on this site, we don’t accept samples, and nothing here is written as if we had. There are good sites that test things by hand. This isn’t one of them, and we’d rather say so.

Who runs it

One person, in their spare time. Being small means we can publish a page saying a popular gift scores badly without worrying about who we’ve upset.

How it makes money

Affiliate links. If you buy something through a link here, the shop pays us a small commission. You pay the same price either way. The affiliate disclosure has the details.

Corrections

The sources are linked so you can check them. If something’s wrong, let us know and we’ll fix it and put the date of the change on the page.
